ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – One person was killed and four others injured Friday night following an altercation that turned violent at a wedding in the Kurdistan Region's province of Erbil.

Before the ceremony began in the town of Kasnazan, a man and his uncle, relatives of the engaged persons, started a shouting match in the reception hall. Shortly afterward, onlookers intervened to separate them, a source related to the deceased individual told Kurdistan 24, preferring to remain anonymous.

However, the source added, after the wedding commenced, the two men began quarreling again, leading one of them carrying a handgun to start shooting, resulting in five casualties. Those injured are currently receiving medical treatment.

Erbil Police arrested two persons in relation to the case without publicly revealing any further details.

A Kurdistan 24 video taken inside the wedding hall shows dozens of bullet holes. In the clip, music can still be heard blaring in the background as another couple held their marriage ceremony not shortly after the incident.
