Kitten with each eye double-colored found in Kurdish Wan province

Odd-eyed cats of Wan are world-renowned, and the Kurdish province now has a cat with even more striking beauty.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdish province of Wan (Van) in Turkey is world-renowned for being the native home of a very special breed of odd-eyed domestic cats.

But this time around, researchers at the local Yuzuncu Yil University recently came across an extra special cat that possesses an even more distinguishing trait, turquoise and brownish yellow colors in each of its both eyes.

The university’s Van Cat Research Center Director Abdullah Kaya said the cat breed’s odd-eyed feature (heterochromia iridum) was already something of great interest for the public and admirers around the world but having two colors in each of the eyes was a much rarer evolutionary phenomenon.

Kaya told Turkish state media that the sad-looking kitten found in the Edremit district which the research center adopted had no health issues in the eyes or the rest of its body.

It did not have a name yet but was good at socializing with other cats at the center’s yard.
