In-PICTURES: Kurdish youth raise environmental awareness

80 volunteers participated at this environmental awareness campaign.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – In an effort to raise environmental awareness, a group of young volunteers on Saturday launched a campaign to clean and plant flowers in the streets of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

"Clean and Color Hawler" campaign embarked on planting flowers and cleaning the streets of Erbil in five different locations.

Nearly 80 volunteers, mostly college students, contributed to the environmental campaign.

Erbil Shapers Hub, a branch of Global Shapers Community launched the campaign in collaboration with the Reach Organization and in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Lawk Hoshiyar, the organizer of the campaign, and a member of the Erbil Shapers Hub told Kurdistan24 that the purpose of this campaign is "to keep our cities clean and raise awareness for our generation and the generations to come."
