The Erbil Municipality expects to complete the project by mid-September.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Erbil Municipality has begun renovating one of the city’s busiest streets.

In late June 2018, Erbil Municipality started a 480 million IQD-worth project to renovate Eskan Street, one of the busiest streets in the Kurdistan Region capital.

The Municipality expects to complete the construction by mid-September.

The renovation project aims to transform the street into another tourist hub by changing the landscape of the road, improving the sewerage system as well as the shops, restaurants, vendors, and food carts located alongside the street.

Eskan Street, which connects Erbil’s 30-meter and 60-meter avenues, is a busy area, particularly during the night where vendors are full and offer many kinds of foods that are popular in the city and the Kurdistan Region.

Many shops and restaurants are open until the morning where they offer special Kurdish-style breakfast to locals and tourists who visit the street.
