Netanyahu exposed Turkey government crimes: HDP

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (Kurdistan 24) – Pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-leader Serpil Kemalbay on Monday said remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were proof the world was not unaware of human rights violations Ankara was committing.

Over the weekend, Netanyahu said his country was not to be lectured about morality by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who “was bombing Kurdish villages.”

In a meeting of HDP’s sister Democrat Regions Party (BDP) in the Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, Kemalbay accused the Erdogan administration of using the contentious Israeli-Palestinian issue of Jerusalem to “cover up their crimes,” Kurdistan 24’s bureau there reported.

“Don’t you think that the world does not see because your media is blind. If you believe so another Prime Minister as criminal as you are, Netanyahu will display your crimes in your face,” she said.

Ahead of Netanyahu’s appearance before cameras in Paris, Erdogan labeled Israel “a state of terror, and child-killer,” over US President Donald Trump’s controversial decision to move the American embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“The whole world is watching. We now for years have been resisting a coup process. And, our struggle will continue upright,” Kemalbay said, accusing the government of staging a coup against the opposition.

The second largest opposition bloc has been the target of a state crackdown since last year that saw multiple detentions of a dozen of its lawmakers, of whom its Co-leader Selahattin Demirtas and nine others, along with 80 mayors and thousands of members remain jailed.

The left-wing HDP’s party program reads that it supports the Palestinian people’s statehood and “struggle to liberate” occupied lands in the West Bank.

The party criticized Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem last week as the capital of Israel, a move opposed by Washington’s friends and foes alike.
