ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – A Kurdish student chose Kurdistan24 as a sample for her Bachelor’s thesis to analyze Kurdish media’s coverage of the war against the Islamic State (IS).

Eva Omar, a Kurdish student from Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava), studies at the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Cihan University based in Erbil.

She recently submitted her BA thesis titled: “Kurdish Media Coverage for the War Against ISIS.”

In her thesis, she used Kurdistan24 as a sample and case study to analyze the media coverage in the fight against the insurgent group.

“Kurdistan24 is one of the most professional media networks in Kurdistan. It is objective and fast when it comes to news coverage,” Omar told Kurdistan24, explaining the reason for choosing the media company.

“Kurdistan24 has been professional and showed great devotion to news coverage,” she continued.

“The reporters were on the field all the time to provide the latest information,” Omar added. “It is quick and credible.”

Kurdistan24 Company for Media and Research Ltd. is a television and radio network that broadcasts news in the Kurdish language.

It also publishes reports on its website in different languages, including Kurdish (Sorani and Kurmanji dialects), English, Arabic, Turkish, and will launch a Persian version soon.

Since it was launched in late October 2015, Kurdistan24 has become a leading source of news for Kurdish-related topics and the fight against IS.

“At one point, Kurds had to rely on international media to get updated on the news, even their own news, but now it’s the other way around,” Noreldin Waisy, the Founder and General Manager of Kurdistan24 previously said.

“International media relies on us to get accurate and timely news,” he added.
