KRG launches COVID-19 awareness campaign

The campaign comes as regional health authorities continue to report daily infections of over 200.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Saturday launched an awareness campaign across the autonomous region to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

The campaign was organized by the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Culture and Youth, and the Department of Media and Information, and it is scheduled to last for two weeks.

The first week will focus on raising awareness about the importance of wearing face masks to reduce the chances of infection. In the second week, the campaign will emphasize the importance of social distancing.

In a statement, the KRG called on local media outlets to participate in the campaign, which comes as health authorities continue to report daily infections of over 200 across the autonomous region.

According to the latest figures from the Kurdistan Region's Health Ministry, the total number of infections on Saturday reached 12,253, of which 6,735 have recovered, 5,044 remain active, and 474 have died.
