Turkey arrests Iranian-Kurdish vocalist Yalda Abbasi

The singer, a native of Iran’s eastern North Khorasan Province, was traveling along with her mother.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Turkish authorities on Thursday arrested Iranian-Kurdish singer Yalda Abbasi at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport.

Abbasi flew to Istanbul to perform at a cultural event on the weekend, the Kurdish Mezopotamya news agency reported.

No further details were immediately available surrounding the arrest.

The singer, a native of Iran’s eastern North Khorasan Province, was traveling along with her mother, the agency added.

Abbasi has previously performed multiple times in Turkey.
