ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – A rocket attack on Wednesday trageted the Makhmour refugee camp 40 miles south of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, killing and wounding several people.
Over 10,000 Kurdish refugees from northern Kurdistan (Turkey) are settled in the Makhmour camp.
The assault targeted a training post for Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members attached to the camp, according to informed sources.
Five people were killed and eight others wounded in the attack, a Kurdistan 24 reporter at the scene said.
The wounded people have been transferred to a hospital in Erbil, the reporter added.
No side has claimed responsibility for the attack.
