WASHINGTON DC, United States (Kurdistan24) – The Washington administration should recognize the help of the Kurdistan Region and Peshmerga forces in the battle against the Islamic State (IS), a Middle East expert recently told Kurdistan24.
In an interview with Kurdistan24, Judith Kipper, the Director of the Middle East Program at the Institute of World Affairs, discussed the US’ continued role in the conflict in the Middle East.
“I think that for the US in this crucial moment in the Middle East, we really need to recognize and appreciate the enormous help that the Kurds have given to us,” she stated.
“Not only Peshmerga fighting but working with the Kurdish government,” she continued.
Moreover, Kipper mentioned she supported Kurdish independence even if it might be a difficult road.
She added that being a member of the international community and cooperating with other countries would help the Kurds in the long run.
