ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – A Kurdistan24 cameraman and correspondent on Thursday was wounded after being shot by an Islamic State (IS) extremist inside Mosul.

Mohammed Halabjayi, a Kurdistan24 correspondent and cameraman, along with the network’s crew were covering the Mosul operation inside the city from the front lines.

As clashes continued between the extremist group and Iraqi security forces on Thursday, an IS militant shot the cameraman some meters away in the neighborhood of Tahrir, northeastern Mosul.

“I had some people who rescued me, but there might be many civilians in the area that remain wounded for days, and can’t reach medical teams,” Halabjayi said.

“The living condition of people in Mosul is very bad!” He added.

Masoud Mohammed, another Kurdistan24 correspondent in Mosul, stated it was unclear from which side the bullet came from.

“We were together covering the situation in the city,” Mohammed said. “All of the sudden, Halabjayi was shot and fell on the ground.”
