Second French journalist dies after heavily wounded in Mosul

French journalist Véronique Robert passed away on Saturday after she was wounded along with her crew in Mosul, French media announced.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – French journalist Véronique Robert passed away on Saturday after she was wounded along with her crew in Mosul, French media announced.

A group of three French journalists along with a Kurdish fixer and interpreter Bakhtiyar Haddad on Monday were targeted by an Islamic State (IS) landmine blast in western Mosul.

Haddad died immediately, and a French journalist Stephan Villeneuve succumbed from his wounds the day after.

On Saturday, French media reported the death of the second journalist, Robert, who was heavily injured from the blast.

The crew was preparing a report, on the hunt for French insurgents for a special program planned to be aired on French Televisions.

During an interview with France 24 on Wednesday, the President of the Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani expressed his condolences to the fallen Kurdish and French journalists and sent his sympathies to their families.
