ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Directorate of Erbil Security (Asayish) has revealed the identities of the perpetrators involved in the attack on the General-Director of Administration for the Kurdistan Region’s electoral commission in Erbil, Fars Mohammed.

In a press conference, Tahir Nouri, the Director of the Erbil Asayish Directorate, said Mohammed’s murder was related to a personal dispute between two families and had no political connections.

Nouri stated that on April 24, Faruq Ghazi, Hunar Abdul Karim, and a third person (whose name has not yet been identified by security forces) opened fire on Mohammed, killing him immediately.

“The perpetrators are still at large and have fled the province,” the Erbil security official said, adding that a court had issued arrest warrants for the suspects.

“The families of the attackers and the victim had a social dispute in the past. Two people from either side, including Mohammed’s nephew, have been killed, and the quarrel remains unresolved,” Nouri stated.

According to the CCTV footage released by Erbil Asayish, the perpetrators had followed Mohammed and monitored his movements from his house to his workplace a few times before they executed the attack.
