ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) - Civilians continue to flee from the so-called Islamic State (IS) in western of Mosul, as the Caliphate's self-proclaimed capital, and last major stronghold, is about to fall.
Kurdistan24 Correspondent Zerdasht Hame, embedded with Iraqi forces, captured the moment desperate civilians reach areas liberated by security forces.
In the past two days, thousands of civilians have fled from IS-controlled areas in western Mosul, including children, men, and woman and the elderly.
While many of them hid in basements of buildings with little access to food and water, others suffered from serious illnesses and diseases.
According to the Iraqi top military commanders, Mosul, occupied by IS since June 2014, will be liberated in the coming weeks.
