WATCH: Iraqi Parliamentary Speaker arrives in Kurdistan to meet with senior leaders

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Speaker of Iraqi Parliament, Mohammed al-Halbousi, arrived in the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region Thursday evening to meet with senior Kurdish leaders.

Halbousi is expected to participate in a Ezidi-related event in the province of Duhok on Friday, as well as meet with leaders of the religious minority, Umed Sabah, from the Presidency office of the Kurdistan Region, told Kurdistan 24 on Thursday as he received the speaker at the Erbil International Airport (EIA).

The speaker will also have a meeting with the former President of the Kurdistan Region and current President of the leading Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, Sabah noted.

In addition to him, Halbousi will “meet with Prime Minister [of the Kurdistan Region] Nechirvan Barzani, and Masrour Barzani [Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC)],” he continued.

Halbousi’s landing in Erbil comes three weeks after the Nov. 22 visit by Masoud Barzani to Baghdad, where he met with a number of Iraqi leaders, including the Parliamentary Speaker.
