ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – New footage of Omran Daqneesh, the Syrian boy who became the face of the conflict in Aleppo almost a year ago, and his family has emerged on Tuesday.

Then 3-year-old Omran moved the world and became a symbol of the war-torn Syrian city of Aleppo after footage of him alone in the back of an ambulance in the aftermath of a bombing last August was widely circulated by media across the world.

Omran is now 4-years-old and lives in government-controlled Aleppo with his family.

In the video, he is seen playing with his siblings, having regained his health.

In the interview, Mohammed Kheir Daqneesh, Omran’s father, talked about the harrowing events.

“We were sitting in our house. Omran and I were spending time having fun on our cell phones. Then the strike hit,” he recalled. “I put him in a safe room until I could secure the rest of the family too.”

Omran’s older brother, Ali, died from injuries sustained in the attack.

“We’ve been in so much turmoil in [Eastern Aleppo],” the father said. “The child–thank God–is alright.”
