Real Madrid defeat Bayern, secure third straight Champions League final appearance

Real Madrid have won the competition 12 times, the most by any side in the competition’s history.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A 2-2 draw was enough to see Real Madrid get past Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League semifinal second-leg on Tuesday at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Spain, defeating them 4-3 on aggregate.

Bayern Munich opened the scoring early in the match through Joshua Kimmich’s third-minute strike but Real Madrid responded immediately after when Karim Benzema powered home the equalizer in the 11th minute.

Benzema scored his side’s second goal after a mistake at the back right at the start of the second-half, but Bayern responded through James Rodriguez in the 62nd minute.

A late flurry of chances was not enough for Bayern as Madrid secured their third consecutive Champions League final appearance, their fourth in five years.

Real Madrid have won the competition 12 times, the most by any side in the competition’s history.

Meanwhile, English Premier League side Liverpool will travel to Italy on Wednesday where they play Roma having beaten them 5-2 in the first-leg. Kick-off for the match will be at 9:45 p.m. Erbil time.

Mohamed Salah and co. will be hoping to finish the job and join Real Madrid in the final which will be played at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine on May 26.

However, Roma, who overturned a 4-1 first-leg deficit against Barcelona in the quarterfinals, will be optimistic about their chances of beating Liverpool and reaching the final.
