VIDEO: Second phase of 120-meter highway ring opens in Erbil

Nawzad Hadi, the Governor of Erbil, told Kurdistan 24 that the opening of the new road would contribute to resolving traffic problems in the streets of the Kurdistan Region's capital.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – In a special ceremony on Monday, the Erbil Governorate announced the opening of the second phase of the five-ring highway in the city, known as the 120-meter highway.

During the ceremony, attended by officials from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the second stage of the 120-meter highway which links Koya road to Shaqlawa road was officially opened to the public.

Nawzad Hadi, the Governor of Erbil, told Kurdistan 24 that the opening of the new road would contribute to resolving traffic problems in the streets of the Kurdistan Region’s capital.

Hemn Group, a local private company, was involved in the construction of the second stage of the project.

Khaleed Khoshnaw, the CEO of Hemn Group, told Kurdistan 24 the third stage of the project—which would connect Kirkuk and Koya roads—will begin soon and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
