ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Unknown armed men opened fire and immediately killed a policeman in the Kurdistan Region’s city of Sulaimani, local police said on Wednesday.

The attack took place in the neighborhood of Raparin, the spokesperson of Sulaimani Police, Sarkawt Ahmed, told Kurdistan 24.

He mentioned that the policeman was killed immediately at the site of the incident.

“The shooting happened outside of his working hours, and he was inside of his personal car while driving to his home,” Ahmed said.

The spokesperson noted that preliminary investigations determined that the motive behind the policeman’s murder was “a social issue.”

The unknown gunmen opened fire on the officer while passing next to him inside a vehicle, he explained.
