Kurdistan Region President to meet with French President on Tuesday

Hollande will meet with President Barzani at the Élysée Palace on Feb. 21 at 4:15 p.m. (local time).

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The President of the Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani will visit France on Tuesday and meet with the French President at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

The President of the Kurdistan Region President is scheduled to visit France and meet with the French President Francois Hollande.

President Barzani was officially invited by French President Hollande.

According to the French Presidency website, Hollande will meet with President Barzani at the Élysée Palace on Feb. 21 at 4:15 p.m. (local time).

On Sep. 7, 2016, President Barzani arrived in Paris for an official visit and met with Hollande, Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and the Mayor of Paris.

On Jan. 2, 2017, President Hollande visited Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, and met with President Barzani.

While in Kurdistan, Hollande visited French and Peshmerga forces.

Hollande and his delegates received a warm welcome in Erbil where they were greeted by the children of fallen Peshmerga soldiers.

The children included Hujam Surchi’s son, the Peshmerga who was beheaded by the Islamic State in 2014.

Additionally, the French national flag along with the Kurdistan flag was displayed in several streets of Erbil before the top French delegates arrived.
