KRSC counterterrorism forces arrest senior IS operative

In a military operation on Tuesday evening, Kurdistan counterterrorism forces arrested a senior member of Islamic State (IS) in western Kirkuk Province.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – In a military operation on Tuesday evening, Kurdistan counterterrorism forces arrested a senior member of Islamic State (IS) in western Kirkuk Province.

According to Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) announcement, the operation followed intelligence gathering in an area across the IS-occupied town of Hawija.

KRSC counterterrorism forces captured Malik Raf’aat Khalaf Jadou’, an influential member of the extremist group and it was learned that he played a significant role in terrorist attacks inside and around Kirkuk Province.

Recently KRSC counterterrorism forces arrested an IS suicide bomber named Mohammed Yassin Muhsin on March 13 who participated in attacking Peshmerga in western Kirkuk.

On March 14, Mohamad Jamal Khweis, an American-Palestinian Islamic State (IS) member surrendered himself to Peshmerga in the city of Sinjar (Shingal).

Previously on Feb. 17, KRSC counterterrorism forces rescued a Swedish girl, 15-year-old Marlin Stivani Nivarlain in the heart of IS-controlled territory near Mosul.
