ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will visit Iraq and the Kurdistan Region on Oct. 11, and Oct. 12 to meet with top senior officials, state-owned media reported on Wednesday.

Cavusoglu will meet Iraqi officials in Baghdad on this Thursday and then fly to Erbil to hold meetings with Kurdish leaders, according to Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish official will reportedly meet with newly-elected Iraqi President, Barham Salih, and Turkmen leaders in Baghdad.

It is the first visit by a senior Turkish official to the Kurdistan Region since last year’s Sep. 25 referendum on independence, which saw overwhelming majority favoring statehood.
