KIRKUK, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – After losing his feet in a car accident, a talented Kurdish goalkeeper in southern Kirkuk’s Daquq town has decided to be a trainer for local players in the area.

Hiwa Sabah is a Kurdish youth who has been playing football for 14 years.

Besides losing his feet, being unable to play the sport again has deepened his pain.

Kurdistan24 correspondent Hemin Dalo visited Sabah at his home.

Before the interview, he sat surrounded by all his trophies, reminded of the best memories of his life.

“I feel very sad for being unable to protect my team’s goal anymore, as they often lose matches now,” he told Kurdistan24.

“It’s my dream to return to the stadium and be able to play again, even for once,” he added.

Hunar Adil, one of his former teammates, praised Sabah’s role in the team and recalled a memory of him during a match.

“In a match, he saved 12 penalties out of 16. It is one of the best memories that I will never forget,” Adil told Kurdistan24.

Sabah promised he would not abandon his colleagues and would become a trainer for the players in the area.
