ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – A professional bodybuilder from America recently visited the Kurdistan Region and said he looks forward to supporting the rise of fitness in the Region.

Cedric McMillan, an International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) professional bodybuilder from South Carolina, who was deployed to Iraq in 2004, spoke to Kurdistan24 about the emergence of bodybuilding and fitness in Kurdistan.

“There is a lot of fitness athletes, bodybuilding athletes, here in the area,” he said.

The IFBB professional recently won the prestigious 2017 Arnold Classic award named after the famous bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger.

McMillan, a partner of Scitec Nutrition, teamed up with the Karrada Group in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, to provide nutritional supplements, accessories, and sports clothes.

McMillan mentioned the purpose of his visit was also to promote and encourage athletes in the Region.

“I thought it was very important to show them some support, to let them know that we love them, and we want them to continue in the sport,” the bodybuilder added.

McMillan said he would visit nutrition stores and gyms to “show support” to everybody involved in the sport.

He praised the facilities in the Kurdistan Region and said everything aspiring bodybuilders need is available.

“The plan right now is just to come here more often, and show support more frequently,” McMillan stated.

“As you can see, everything is up and running [as] it should,” he continued. “We have beautiful gyms here in the area.”

McMillan is still active in the US Army where he is a leading instructor at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

When the bodybuilder was deployed to Iraq, he built a gym to train in during his stay.
