IS extremists arrested by Kurdish forces reveal entry to Kirkuk

The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) on Sunday released a video of the arrest and confession of some Islamic State (IS) extremists responsible for the attack on Kirkuk.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) on Sunday released a video of the arrest and confession of some Islamic State (IS) extremists responsible for the attack on Kirkuk.

In a statement, the KRSC revealed nearly 200 IS extremists took part in the attack on Kirkuk.

“IS extremists were transferred from the city of Hawija to Bashir village, and from there they walked to Abadat village,” the statement read.

“Then, using two trucks, the insurgents moved near Tariq Company in southern Kirkuk,” the statement continued.

“IS sleeper-cells, using four mini-trucks and other cars, transferred insurgents into the city of Kirkuk during the morning of Oct. 21,” the report added.

On Oct. 21, IS attacked Kirkuk with several militants and temporarily took control of some buildings in the province.

According to Kirkuk security, 99 people were ‘martyred,’ and 230 injured.

The number of militants was over 100, and 63 dead bodies remain in Kirkuk while the others were arrested.
