Assad’s forces killing civilians in eastern Aleppo: UN

The office of the United Nations human rights on Tuesday said there were reports of Syrian government forces killing civilians in eastern Aleppo.

ALEPPO, Syria (Kurdistan24) – The office of the United Nations human rights on Tuesday said there were reports of Syrian government forces killing civilians in eastern Aleppo.

According to the UN human rights office spokesman Robert Colville, pro-government troops killed at least 82 civilians, some “on the spot.”

“The reports we had are of people being shot in the street trying to flee and shot in their homes,” Colville revealed.

The spokesman added the civilians were targeted in four different neighborhoods in the war-torn city.

Moreover, the commander of the Jabha Shamiya rebel group Abu Ali Saqour urged the international community to rescue civilians who remained in the city.

“My message is that they must take a decision to save those people who are stuck here, these civilians, these children,” Saqour told Reuters.

“No state has helped these people in any way,” he continued.

The commander added “any state with power in its hands” should rescue the innocent people trapped in the city, pointing to the US and Turkey.

The Jabha Shamiya group is fighting under the umbrella of the Free Syrian Army against Bashar al-Assad’s government forces in Aleppo.

The rebel group is one of the several factions receiving support from Turkey against Assad’s troops.

“The bombardment is not on the front lines, the greater burden of the bombardment is on the civilians,” Saqour explained.

“My message to the world is to get these people out of this disaster-stricken city, at least the civilians,” he added.

Since Monday, the Syrian army took full control over districts in Aleppo abandoned by rebels, according to a Syrian military source.
