LONDON, United Kingdom (Kurdistan24) – British police on Sunday arrested 12 people in connection with the London attacks which left several people dead, and dozens injured.

The arrests happened after police raided several addresses in Barking, a suburb to the east of the capital.

“The investigation into last night’s horrific attack in London is progressing rapidly as the Metropolitan Police Services (MPS) continue to piece together exactly what occurred,” a police statement read.

The report added that “a number of addresses” in the area were still being searched.

The police arrested four men as well as one woman, who was later released, following a raid by armed units at 7:00 a.m. local time, Sky News reported.

On Saturday night, three men drove a van through a large crowd of pedestrians on the London Bridge, before attacking people with knives.

The violence left seven people dead and 48 others injured in hospital.

The attackers were immediately killed after police arrived at the scene, although the MPS is still pursuing a search for accomplices.

MPS Commissioner Cressida Dick told reporters they believed “the threat that [the suspects] posed was neutralized.”

“Of course, it’s a very complex and confused scene, and a confused series of events,” Dick continued.

The Commissioner mentioned the police were still searching to “make sure there is no one else outstanding,” adding they “don’t believe there is, but we must make absolutely certain of that.”

“We have a very large investigation ongoing, and we will be seeking to establish whether anyone else was working with [or] helping in the planning of this attack,” Dick concluded.
