Video of Kurdish female sniper laughing at a missed IS shot goes viral

The bullet shot by Islamic State (IS) in Raqqa whizzed by her head only inches away.

LOS ANGELES, United States (Kurdistan24) - A dramatic video showing a female Kurdish fighter laughing off a near-fatal IS bullet hits international media.

The bullet shot by Islamic State (IS) in Raqqa whizzed by her head only inches away.

The bullet can be seen exploding in a wall inches from the fighter’s head but she only laughed at it and poked her tongue out.

“Kurdish women know no fear,” the videos’ uploader said in a tweet.

“Your average human being would be scared for life after being so close to death but she kept laughing,” he added.

Groups of female Kurdish fighters, known as Women's Protection Units (YPJ), have been fighting on the frontlines against IS for years.

YPJ and YPG are the armed units of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria and have around 7,000 members.

The Kurdish women fight alongside their male companions on the front lines and have been very active in liberating Raqqa.

They also played an important role in the liberation of Tell Abyad, which is also in northern Syria.

YPJ women are praised around the world not only for their bravery and skill in the frontlines but also for their fight for gender equality.

IS fighters fear Kurdish women the most because they believe if killed by a woman, they would not go to heaven.
