PHOTOS: Baghdad recovers Saddam antique chess set

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The US embassy in Iraq on Sunday announced it handed over a game of chess set that once belonged to former Iraqi regime President Saddam Hussein. 

The embassy based in Baghdad, according to its Facebook account, met with the Deputy Minister of Culture for Antiquities and Heritage Affairs, Qais Rasheed, to return the antique chess set.

The embassy mentioned the set was stolen in 2003 and recovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) without giving further details. 

“The US is committed to helping return stolen Iraqi artifacts,” the embassy added.
