ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Officials from the Kurdistan Region and Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) met in Erbil on Sunday to reconcile relations between the Kurdish parties in Rojava.

Aldar Khalil, a member of the Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM), and Hamid Darbandi, the official advisor and manager of the Syrian Kurdish crisis file in the Kurdistan Region, held a meeting in Erbil to discuss normalizing relations between the Kurdish parties in Rojava, a source who attended the meeting told Kurdistan 24.

In the meeting, Darbandi expressed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to mediate between TEV-DEM (the Syrian Kurdistan Administration) and the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) if both sides agreed, the source said.

According to the source, both sides agreed that all ENKS political prisoners should be released as a gesture of good-will for future meetings between the Kurdish parties of Rojava.

They added that TEV-DEM and the Rojava Administration would not hinder the movement of ENKS members between the Kurdistan Region and Syrian Kurdistan and would allow the ENKS to reopen its headquarters and offices across Rojava.

If TEV-DEM is committed to these steps, the Region will facilitate in arranging a meeting between them and the ENKS and make efforts to resolve their internal problems, the source explained.

TEV-DEM is an umbrella organization made up of six political parties and civil society institutions, including the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the sole ruling Kurdish party in Syrian Kurdistan.
