The Iraqi Parliament convened on Wednesday to vote on the newly-nominated ministers in the new Federal Government of Iraq headed by Prime Minister-designate Adel Abdul-Mahdi.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi Parliament convened on Wednesday to vote on the newly-nominated ministers in the new Federal Government of Iraq headed by Prime Minister-designate Adel Abdul-Mahdi.

A total of 220 lawmakers out of 329 attended the session.

The voting mechanism is set to be public where lawmakers’ choices will be visible to their colleagues despite some asking for a secret ballot.

The list does not contain the candidates for all the ministerial posts as some are yet to be decided.

Abdul-Mahdi might struggle to satisfy all the parties and get a sufficient number of votes. As a result, the process may face some delays, several Kurdish lawmakers told Kurdistan 24.
