There had been conflicting reports on the condition of the Ezidi leader, prompting his family to release a statement saying he is still alive.

Mir Tahseen Beg has been the leader of Ezidis around the world since 1944, following the death of his father.

There are about one million Ezidis worldwide, with almost half of them living in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
