Top Kurdistan Region officials meet with Jordan's outgoing envoy to Erbil
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met on Thursday with outgoing Consul General of Jordan, Haitham Abu Alfoul.
Barzani praised, "the historical relationship and friendship between the Kurdistan Region and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan," in a KRG statement, thanking the envoy for his "role in strengthening bilateral relations," and wished him "success in his future missions."
In turn, Alfoul expressed gratitude for the people, government, and institutions of the Kurdistan Region for the facilities and "fruitful cooperation aimed at consolidating relations between the region and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."

In an earlier meeting on Tuesday, Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Hemin Hawrami also thanked Alfoul for his service during his tenure in Erbil and gave him an update of the current political, health, and economic situation in the autonomous region, as well as the state of ongoing negotiations with Baghdad.
Alfoul reiterated, "Jordan has always been a friend of the people of Kurdistan and we will continue to strengthen our relationship."
During a state visit to Jordan in early May, Prime Minister Barzani headed a high-level delegation that met with Jordan's King Abdullah II, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, and Prime Minister Omar Razzaz to discuss further developing relations between their governments, with a particular emphasis on trade and Jordanian investment in the Kurdistan Region.
