ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday met in Erbil with senior Iraqi politician Khamis al-Khanjar, the head of the Mashrou’ al-Arabi and Adhim Coalition.

The prime minister "addressed the political and security developments in Iraq, and discussed solutions to outstanding issues within the constitution’s framework," a statement from Barzani's office said.

"Both sides also discussed Iraq’s upcoming elections, and they emphasized the need for a transparent and fair election that mutually serves the interest of all parties," the statement concluded.

Parliamentary elections have been planned for this October, as multiple crises continue to plague the country. Observers note that due to logistical issues, hundreds of thousands of people are at risk of not being able to vote.
