KRG earmarks over $1 million to build two hospitals in Sulaimani

This would be the first of a series of projects that the KRG is planning to implement across the region to strengthen the health sector.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Sunday earmarked 1.6 billion Iraqi dinars, close to $1.1 million, to build two healthcare facilities in the city of Sulaimani, according to a government announcement.

This would be the first of a series of projects that the KRG is planning to implement across the region to strengthen the health sector.

"The Prime Minister ordered the allocation of 1,617,640,000 dinars to implement several projects in the city of Sulaimani," said the Department of Media and Information in a statement. 

The projects, the agency added, include the construction of a 200-bed maternity hospital, for which About 1.3 billion dinars have been earmarked. The second facility would be another 200-bed hospital for rheumatism patients and physiotherapy.
