PM Barzani praises Belgium’s ongoing Peshmerga support

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support and aid the Belgian government has provided the Peshmerga, his office said in a statement.

The prime minister met Belgium’s ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Filip Vanden Bulcke, in the Kurdish capital to discuss relations between Erbil and Brussels.

Barzani “expressed gratitude for Belgium’s ongoing aid to Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS,” a statement from his office read.

The premier stressed the importance of “continuous cooperation” between the Kurdistan Region and Belgium, while the Belgian diplomat reiterated his country’s readiness to foster ties with Erbil. He also delivered the greetings of the Belgian premier to Barzani, the statement noted.
