Kurdistan PM receives head of Iraq’s Kafaa party, talk elections

Despite the withdrawal of a number of electoral from the October elections, Iraq's High Electoral Commission is adamant about holding the vote on time.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday received the head of the Iraqi Kafaat party in Erbil, discussing the latest political developments in Iraq, according to a press release.

Premier Barzani and Haitham al Jabouri, the head of the Kafaat Assembly, discussed the upcoming Iraqi elections scheduled for October 10, according to a press release from Barzani’s office.

The politicians reiterated the importance of holding a transparent election free from fraud, to ensure Iraq’s stability and a resolution of outstanding issues, the statement added.

Despite the withdrawal of a number of electoral from the October elections, Iraq's High Electoral Commission is adamant about holding the vote on time.

Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi also recently reiterated that the elections will take place on the scheduled date.
