ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)-affiliated Rapid Intervention Forces arrested an ISIS commander in Al-Rashidiyah village in Al-Shadadi countryside in northeastern Hasakah province, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday.

SOHR cited sources that said the commander, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, “used to finance and recruit people” into ISIS. He was captured “with documents, technical tools and mobiles in his possession.”

Aircraft from the US-led coalition supported the operation. The coalition provides continued support of SDF operations against ISIS remnants and sleeper cells in Syria.

In another operation mere days earlier, SDF forces arrested ISIS suspects in the eastern province of Deir al-Zor. Coalition helicopters also participated in that operation.

Furthermore, the SDF press office reported last Tuesday that special SDF units captured an ISIS leader in Markada, also in Hasakah province.

That ISIS leader was “responsible for planning assassinations and manufacturing IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and booby traps targeting military and security patrols,” the SDF said.
