Iraq’s top court sets hearing date for case against presidential candidate Hoshyar Zebari

The Federal Supreme Court said it will hear the case against Hoshyar Zebari's nomination for Iraq's president this Sunday.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraq's Federal Supreme Court announced on Wednesday it had set Sunday as the date for a hearing on the case against the nomination of Hoshyar Zebari for the post of the country's head of state.

On Sunday, the judicial body suspended Zebari's presidential candidacy, a decision that came just one day before the scheduled parliamentary session during which lawmakers were to vote in a new president.

Zebari was favored to win the vote, but the largest legislative factions boycotted the session after his suspension as a candidate.
