ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) provided relief aid to the Hasakah Council on Thursday to be distributed to civilians affected by the clashes between the SDF and ISIS in January.

"A few days ago, the SDF handed relief aid to the Hasakah Council to be distributed to the affected residents in the neighborhoods of Ghweran, al-Nashwa and al-Zuhour, south of the city, through the council of the southern district of Hasakah city," North Press reported.

ISIS launched a large-scale attack on al-Sina'a prison, which holds 3,000 to 3,500 suspected terrorists, with an explosive-laden car on Jan. 20 as detainees rioted inside.

The SDF announced on Jan. 30 that it fully recaptured al-Sina'a following the surrender of the remaining ISIS fighters there.

Around 45,000 people in Hasakah were displaced across the northeastern Syrian city of Al-Hasakah during the fighting. A number of them returned after the fighting ended.

"Our SDF partners remain ready to respond," tweeted the official account of the US-led coalition.

"Thank you #SDF for your bravery and determination in defending NE Syria against Daesh & any terrorist threat to build a safe & secure region."
