ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A Syrian soldier was killed, and 11 others injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in the capital Damascus on Tuesday, the state news agency SANA reported.

“At about 7:25 am, on February 15, 2022, an explosive device planted in a military bus near the Customs roundabout went off, leading to (the) martyrdom of a soldier and wounding 11 others, a military source said,” read the SANA report.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) war monitor also reported that the blast killed a Syrian soldier and wounded 14 others, five of whom have been seriously injured.

The injured personnel have been transferred to Al-Mouwasat hospital in the Al-Mezzeh area.

“It is worth noting that a third IED that had been set to explode in the same area was dismantled,” the SOHR report added.

On Oct. 20, 14 Syrian government soldiers were killed when two explosive devices attached to a military bus detonated in Damascus' Jisr al-Raees.
