Coalition delegation visits unit that joined Ministry of Peshmerga

Both sides also discussed how the 2nd Support Forces Command to the Ministry of Peshmerga is "an important step, as a way to unify all the other forces."

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The International Coalition for Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) on Wednesday visited the 2nd Support Forces Command to discuss steps to unite all Peshmerga forces under the Ministry of Peshmerga.

"A delegation of @CJTFOIR (coalition) visited the @ssfckurd, w(h)ere they discussed the steps taken to unite all forces & how to reorganize them under the umbrella of @KRG_MOPE," the Ministry of Peshmerga said on its official Twitter account.

Both sides also discussed how the 2nd Support Forces Command's integration into the Ministry of Peshmerga is "an important step, as a way to unify all the other forces."

Colonel Todd Burroughs, Deputy Director of the US-led coalition's Military Advisor Group North, told Kurdistan 24 on Monday that the 2nd Support Forces Command received ammunition from the Ministry of Peshmerga's M4 Warehouse.

"2nd Support Forces Command (a group formerly affiliated to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) has been formally transitioned under the Ministry of Peshmerga as part of the Peshmerga Reform process," Colonel Burroughs told Kurdistan 24.

The Netherlands, the US, the UK, and Germany form the unique Multi-National Advisory Group (MNAG) that enthusiastically supports the project to establish a modern, effective, affordable, and accountable Peshmerga force under the control of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

As part of those efforts, Kurdish leaders decided last year to put heavy support units of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Unit 80 and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Unit 70 under the command of the Ministry of Peshmerga.
