PM Barzani, top Qatari official discuss strengthening bilateral ties

Al Hammadi conveyed greetings from the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar to Prime Minister Barzani and expressed Qatar's desire to improve relations with the Kurdistan Region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday discussed strengthening bilateral ties with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Ahmad Hassen al-Hammadi, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The Qatari Ambassador to Iraq and the Consul General of Qatar in the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.

Al-Hammadi conveyed greetings from the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar to Prime Minister Barzani and expressed Qatar's desire to improve relations with the Kurdistan Region.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of Qatar's position and expressed the Kurdistan Region's determination to strengthen bilateral ties.

On Oct. 31, 2023, Qatar appointed its first consul general in Erbil.

The Kurdistan Region has long seen the Gulf markets as a potential place for exporting its agricultural produce, including pomegranates and potatoes, which have already appeared in several Gulf markets’ grocery stores, including the UAE.
