KDP President Masoud Barzani, UN envoy discuss latest developments in Kurdistan Region
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani on Tuesday received the outgoing head of the United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq (UNAMI) Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert in which they discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, according to a statement from the Barzani Headquarters.
KDP President Barzani expressed her gratitude to Plasschaert for her efforts and appreciated her role in helping stabilize Iraq bringing the parties together and resolving issues during the meeting.
The UN envoy brought a wealth of experience to her role as head of UNAMI. Prior to her appointment, she served as Minister of Defense for the Netherlands, where she played a key role in shaping the country's defense policies and international security efforts. Her expertise in diplomacy and conflict resolution made her well-suited to lead UNAMI in its mission to support Iraq's stability and development.
