PM Barzani, Australian envoy to Iraq discuss stability in the region

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the importance of developing bilateral relations, maintaining security and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday discussed stability in the region with Australian Ambassador to Iraq Glenn Miles, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the importance of developing bilateral relations, maintaining security and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and confronting the threat of terrorism.

The need to resolve the issues between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi government based on the constitution and provide the rights and financial entitlements of the region, as well as the importance of holding parliamentary elections was also addressed.

Australia and the Kurdistan Region have maintained diplomatic relations since 2008. Australia and the Kurdistan Region have signed several agreements on economic, political, and cultural cooperation.
