Erbil National Arts Troupe to participate in International Festival in Prague

The festival, featuring over 80 participating countries, will be held from June 23 to July 2, 2024.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Cultural Director of the Erbil National Arts Troupe, Himdad Lashkari, announced that the troupe will participate in the IV International Folk Dance and Music Festival “Dancing in Prague” at the request of the Czech consul.

The festival, featuring over 80 participating countries, will be held from June 23 to July 2, 2024.

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, Lashkari told Kurdistan24, "The Erbil National Arts Troupe will participate in the festival with four dance performances: Dirûnê, Lorkê, Kwêstan, Dêrîn, and an additional performance called Deholl û Zurrina."

“The dance group is consisted of 8 male and 6 female dancers, but with the musicians and singers, the group consists of 24 participants,” he said.

Established in 1979, the Erbil National Arts Troupe has a history of participating in various festivals both within and outside Kurdistan.

"Our troupe has represented Kurdish culture and heritage in numerous international and domestic events," Lashkari added.

The Festival light motive is to present the cultural tradition of different countries and to provide an opportunity for the members of groups to get together, to establish friendships and culture presentation trough dance and music.
