Over 300,000 tourists expected to visit Kurdistan Region during Eid al-Adha

Abdulmajid assured that all tourist attractions, hotels, motels, and restaurants would be open and ready to serve the influx of tourists.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region General Board of Tourism anticipates a significant influx of tourists during the Eid al-Adha holiday, with more than 300,000 visitors expected to explore the region's attractions.

“We expect more than 300,000 tourists to visit the Kurdistan Region during the four days of the holidays,” Ibrahim Abdulmajid, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region General Board of Tourism, told Kurdistan24's correspondent Azer Farooq.

Abdulmajid assured that all tourist attractions, hotels, motels, and restaurants would be open and ready to serve the influx of tourists.

The Kurdistan Region has already seen over two million tourists in the first four months of this year, despite the absence of a designated tourist season.

The region is on track to welcome more than eight million tourists by the end of the year.

Despite hurdles such as the war on ISIS and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kurdistan Region’s tourism industry has expanded, with six million tourists visiting in 2022. In 2023, seven million tourists were recorded, equaling a 16% increase from the previous year.
