Patriarch of Chaldean Catholic Church Sako called for peace
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and the World called on Christianity, Islam and Jewish leaders to stand united against those who call for hatred and extremism and beat the drums of war.
Cardinal Louis Rafael Sako as the Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq and the World announced “ten years since the crimes committed by ISIS, the displacement of Christians and genocide of the Yazidis, the peoples of the region are still living in an unstable situation,”
“There is killing, displacement, destruction and terrorizing in the land, also an escalation of war in the Middle East is at its peak” He added.
Cardinal Sako stressed on the Marja'as of Christianity, Islam and Judaism must stand united against those who call for hatred and extremism and beat war drums.
He also proposes joint prayers between mosques and churches for the sake of peace in the region.
"If intellectual people in the world don’t take steps to stop this violence which is almost putting the lives of thousands at risk, and destroying their homes, then we will be living a catastrophic circumstance" He said.
"Everyone declares they are against war, but they are armed themselves and they fight," The Cardinal continued.
He believed that peace must be an absolute commitment, peoples and communities of this region live together and are unable to isolated.
He underscored “there will be no solution through war.”
Through his message he encouraged the work towards peace achievement and stability, defeating the evil and war, through dialogue and understanding.
