Duhok's 17th Grape and Honey Fair to showcase sweet success
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Duhok is set to host its 17th annual Grape and Honey Fair on September 11th, featuring a diverse selection of the region's finest produce, despite a challenging year for honey production.
Deputy Director General of Agriculture, Muslih Hassan, told Kurdistan 24 on Monday that the Fair, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, will open its doors at 11:00 am on Wednesday at Family Mall Duhok.
With 41 participants - 20 gardeners and 21 beekeepers - the event promises a showcase of the Kurdistan Region's agricultural richness.
The Fair aims to boost the local economy by supporting the private sector and promoting domestic products from Duhok and other Kurdistan Region provinces.
"We're excited to display over 50 grape varieties," said Hassan, highlighting the region's agricultural diversity. He added that the Fair provides a valuable platform for farmers from across the Kurdistan Region to network and exchange knowledge.
This year's grape harvest has been particularly abundant in Duhok, with production soaring by 20% compared to last year, reaching an estimated 60,000 tons.
