PM Masrour Barzani to lay foundation stone for Qushtapa water project

Deemed a strategic initiative, the project will have the capacity to produce 72,000 cubic meters of clean water per day, addressing the region’s persistent water shortage issues.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Tuesday, the Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is set to lay the foundation stone for the Qushtapa Water Project in Qushtapa district, Erbil province, marking a significant development in the region’s infrastructure.

The Qushtapa Water Project, with an investment of 189 billion and 670 million dinars, is set to become a crucial resource for the town and its surrounding areas.

The project will have the capacity to produce 72,000 cubic meters of clean water per day, addressing the region’s persistent water shortage issues.

Supervised by the General Directorate of Water and Sewerage, the Qushtapa Water Project is one of Erbil province’s strategic initiatives.

It will draw its water supply from the Little Zab River in the village of Qashqa and will feature two large reservoirs: one located in the Bestana area and the other in Qushtapa itself.

Upon completion, the project will provide clean water to Qushtapa district, Bestana village, and over 60 additional villages, significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents and ensuring a reliable water supply for the region.
